7th January – Currently reading 7/365

As you all know, one of my favourite authors is Sandy. That is Alexander McCall Smith! This tale from the First Lady Detective Agency has a variety of characters with a range of problems that Mma Ramotswe, owner of the afore mentioned establishment has to solve. As always, women and their success building a place for themselves in Botswana feature strongly.

Like all his books, it had me laughing out loud in several places. The main character is married to Mr J.L.B.Matekoni,  a skilled mechanic and owner of Tlokweng Road Speedy Motors, who had been encouraged to enroll on a course to learn how to be a modern man. In an attempt to help his wife, he started to prepare the evening meal by mashing the  potatoes, a job he found very hard he told her. The reason? He had not cooked them! Bless!

Do have a look at this series and the others from this author. They give you a warm comforting feeling that all in right with the world.

  1. The No. 1 Ladies Detective Agency is the first I read and loved the Lady Detective, Precious. How could I not? She jumped off the page and I felt her in the room with me. I have a half-dozen others, but haven’t read them. So many books and so little time. ❤ ❤ ❤
